The Turkey Hunt

Published June 15, 2005
Countries: USA
Age Levels: 3 and up

(Note: This is a call-and-response type of story.  This means that the teller makes a statement or shows an action to the listeners.  The job of the listeners is to follow along and join in with the telling of the story.  There are three patterns that need to be taught to the listeners.  They are:  "Yeah Man!", "So-So" and "Shoo Turkey, Shoo Shoo)

Begin by teaching the three responses.  First, ask the listeners to repeat, "Yeah, Man!" after everything that is said.  Second, add change the comment to, "so-so," while pointing left and right,  Finally, ask the students to put both hands to their left side and flip their hands as they shuffle to the left - then right as the response continues.
